2. China
China has long been known in producing high quality marijuana that rivals anything produced in North America. There are many factors responsible for this including favorable climate, large population centers and a strong desire to achieve the highest quality products. Despite laws prohibiting production of medical marijuana, there have not been any reported cases of successful eradication. In addition, China's legal industry continues to flourish despite challenges. The Chinese government regulates the use of pesticides and fertilizers by producers even though they produce at much higher rates than those in the US. This allows them to sell their product at significantly lower prices than competitors relying on chemicals to grow their product. China is currently home to over 2/5 of the worlds total marijuana market.
3. Japan
Japan has become a major player within the global medical cannabis market since legalization in 2018. This is due to its highly regulated system of cultivation and testing allowing only top-quality strains to enter the market. As a result, Japanese marijuana is considered to be some of the best in the world. Like China, Japan has seen no cases of eradication despite being one of the worlds top growers. However, unlike China, it has strict regulations against the sale of medicinal weed. Additionally, unlike China, Japan does not permit local farmers to grow their own crops but instead relies heavily upon imports from other countries. In fact, Japan imported over $US400 million worth of cannabis last year alone.
4. Taiwan
Taiwan became the first country outside of Asia to legalize recreational marijuana in 2016 when legislators passed the Cannabis Control Act. Prior to this, only medicinal pot was allowed. Since then, demand for recreational weed has skyrocketed leading to an increase in production capacity. Taiwanese producers are now able to compete on an international scale. Although illegal under US law, Taiwanese companies can export their products without issue. Taiwan has been listed among the fastest-growing markets for marijuana around the globe.
5. India
India continues to experience rapid economic expansion, making this the fifth largest economy in the world. Since gaining independence from Great Britain in 1947, this country has grown into a global power house. It remains a popular destination for international tourists thanks to its ancient wonders, stunning landscape, vibrant culture, and diverse wildlife.
